Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands Review
Don’t get me wrong. . . . . Anyone who has played ANY Tom Clancy games on the PC have been waiting for a new Ghost Recon title for a LONG time.
Long story short, everything I loved about Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter (GR:AW), GTAV, The Division, Rainbow Six: Siege MINUS everything I hated about all of the above.
It’s a third person game, with a first person feel. Don’t get me wrong. . . . coming from Rainbow Six 3: Ravenshield and America’s Army it has been a long time since I have been able to find a game that fixed that “itch”. I used to play Ghost Recon 2 with my dad and brother in COOP, and we all got in GR:AW as soon as it came out. It was fun to play a multiplayer game and try to plan out a strategy to kill the bad guys, but it was also a fun game to do a COOP terrorist hunt in. I own R6 Vegas, Siege, GTAV, and had a blast playing that game up until it became repetitive. I love an RPG as much as the next guy, but I’m an FPS gamer at heart. The Division almost got me, but it got old trying to do a single play campaign with people who were either to high of a level to help or to low of a level to help. The Division had a great idea, but 9 clips and 10 nades on a bad guy isn’t what we’ve been waiting for. A game designed in with an “Open World” that still had the “stealth” and “tactical” aspect that still felt like an FPS is what we’ve been waiting for. . . . . and Ghost Recon: Wildlands nails it. I love the fact that you have an immense story that you can play with your AI team. I also love the fact that you can order them around. . . . . but the thing that makes it great. . . is the fact that your buddies can join you and help SEAMLESSLY is what makes this game impressive.
The story is great, single play is great. . . . being able to do the story with friends is amazing. The only thing i’m hoping for is the ability to do a RAID or play a match against another team using the tools you have. I doubt this will happen, however if you could do a 6v6 or 12v12 in this game with the mechanics involved. . . it has the potential to be the best game ever made.
